Dr. Patrick James Allison was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He attended medical school at the University of Ottawa, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2004. He completed his Orthopaedic training in 2009 at McGill University in Montreal. He completed fellowship training in complex trauma and lower extremity reconstruction in 2010 at the University of Toronto - Sunnybrook Hospital - under the tutelage of Dr. Hans Kreder and Dr. David Stephen. Dr. Allison arrived in Sudbury in the summer of 2010 and has been in practice here ever since.

 

Dr. Allison holds an associate professor position with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He is involved with teaching core concepts to surgical residents through the AO Foundation. He is currently the associate trauma director at Health Sciences North. He is a member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA) and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

 

Dr. Allison’s practice involves a trio of sub specialties. These include the treatment of complex trauma (fractures of the pelvis, acetabulum, joints, non-unions, deformities, infections), foot & ankle surgery (ankle replacements, fusions, foot reconstructions), and joint replacement surgery (both primary and revision). 

 

On a personal level, Dr. Allison is the father of twin boys and a girl. He holds a wide variety of non medical interests that include contemporary books, guitar techniques, chess tactics, athletics, trivia, music, movies, the outdoors, and anything 80’s.
